Backend Engineer, Settlement & Ledger

Own the settlement layer — atomic delivery-versus-payment between the cash leg and the tokenized asset leg.

RemoteFull-timeMid–Senior

About the role

Settlement is where regulation, custody and onchain mechanics meet. You will design and run the systems that move billions in tokenized securities and cash without breaking a single invariant.

What you’ll do

  • Design and operate the ledger services that record every trade, transfer and corporate action
  • Implement atomic DvP across the cash and asset legs with strong consistency guarantees
  • Integrate with custodians, banks and on-chain settlement layers
  • Build reconciliation and break-management tooling for the Operations team
  • Define and enforce idempotency, retries and replay semantics across the stack
  • Contribute to the post-trade roadmap: corporate actions, tax events, lifecycle automation

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of backend experience, with strong distributed-systems fundamentals
  • Production experience with ledgers, payments, custody or post-trade systems
  • Fluency in Go, Rust or Java; comfort with PostgreSQL and event-sourced patterns
  • Track record of designing for correctness under partial failure
  • Clear written communication — your designs will be reviewed by regulators

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with DLT settlement, atomic swaps or HTLCs
  • Background in clearing, custody or central securities depository (CSD) operations
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 / SWIFT messaging
